  • World Languages Day 2022

    We had a fantastic day celebrating World Languages Day this year and linked our celebration to the men's football world cup.  

    Reception explored what  links each child  has with other countries.  They also learnt about life in some other countries.

    Year 1 visited Wales, linking to their learning about the United Kingdom.

    Year 2 visited Brazil and the Netherlands, linking to their learning about Rio de Janeiro and their learning about the artist Monderain.  They enjoyed making Carnival masks.

    Year 3 headed  to Spain, linking to their learning about Barcelona. Mr Warrington taught them the Spanish words for different flavoured ice creams.  Sxth formers from All Hallows and Kings also came in to teach the year 3s some Spanish.

    Year 4 went to Switzerland and France, linking to their learning about  mountains and rivers in Europe and their learning about the French artist Degas.  Mr Warrington taught a German lesson on ice cream flavours and two sixth formers from Kings taught a lesson about their experience living in France and Switzerland and about French football.

    Year 5 travelled to Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Ecuador and Mexico, linking to their learning about South America and their learning about Mayan art and Henri Rousseau’s paintings of the rainforest.  A teacher from Kings taught year 5 some Portuguese and sixth formers from Kings and All Hallows also gave the children special Spanish lessons.

    Year 6 visited Cameroon, Senegal, Ghana and Mexico, linking to their learning on the chocolate trade.  They also had a Spanish lesson on ice cream flavours by Mr Warrington and a Spanish lesson by two sixth formers from Kings.

     

  • Year 5 learn Spanish at Macclesfield Academy

    Year 5 had so much fun learning Spanish at Macclesfield Academy.  They learnt lots of food and drink words, how to order things in a restaurant and to understand what a waitor would say.  They wrote plays and acted them out in front of each other.  The language teachers at Macclesfield Academy were really impressed with the children's language skills and said that we have lots of brilliant lingusts in Year 5.  Bien chicos y chicas.

  • World Languages Day 2021

    We had such a happy time celebrating World Languages Day this year.  Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 learnt about people, places and languages all around the world.  Year 1 were taught some German by some All Hallows sixth formers and Year 2 had a special Spanish lesson from a visiting Spanish teacher.  Year 3 went to Barcelona for the day and were taught Catalan by a teacher from Tytherington HS.  Year 4 were taught Russian by a teacher from Tytherington HS but also visited Mumbai for the day!  Year 5 had a Japanese lesson from a teacher at Tytherington HS as well as a Spanish lesson from two All Hallows sixth formers.  They learnt all about South America.  Year 6 had a special Italian lesson from a specialist language teacher and learnt all about Italy.  It was a very exciting and busy day!

    On Friday 15th October 2021, Year 5 were incredibly lucky to take part in a virtual meeting with Professor Robert Winston. He was kind enough to answer lots of our questions and then even showed us a science experiment. Professor Robert Winston had some inspiring and thought provoking answers.
