Supporting our families with English as an additional language
We are committed to supporting our EAL (English as an Additional Language) families to ensure every child can thrive in school. Our team works closely with parents and carers to provide language support, translated information, and guidance on how to help children with their learning at home. We also offer targeted support for pupils in class, including small-group or one-to-one sessions, so they can build confidence, develop their English skills, and fully access the curriculum. By working together with families, we create an inclusive and welcoming environment where all children have the opportunity to succeed.
How we support your child with English in school
-
We immerse children fully in English language in the classroom.
-
All staff model excellent English.
-
We offer your child additional support in class where appropriate.
-
We use consistent and recognisable symbols throughout the classrooms and school building.
-
We have a range of dual language texts in our language library.
-
Teachers use the Bell Foundation to uncover any specific areas of language need that your child has.
